Nintendo Switch has Officially Outsold the 3DS

Despite beingness overall pretty horrible for just about everything else, 2022 was a great year for video game sales. Nintendo saw enormous growth in terms of Switch sales which can be attributed to a scattering of factors. The first is that the entire globe has been staying inside as a result of the COVID-xix pandemic so many people take turned to games for entertainment. Another major factor is the absolute mammoth of a release that wasAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Information technology's a game about tranquility and relaxation that came out in March when the world needed information technology most. The Switch has been hard to notice this year due to its popularity and at present Nintendo has confirmed in its Q3 2022 earnings that it has outsold the 3DS.

Sitting comfortably at a whopping 79.87 million units sold, the Switch put last generation'south Wii U to shame with its 13.56 million units sold. It's surpassed the 3DS's significant 75.94 one thousand thousand, notwithstanding, is still a means off from the original Wii's 101.63 million units. Information technology would accept an even more than significant sales growth for the Switch to grab the original DS's sales which have soared to 152.02 million units.

The 3DS only recently stopped production, then it seems like Nintendo is completely focused on the Switch moving forward. Information technology's hard to say if the Switch could ever catch the Wii or DS in terms of sales, only 79.87 million sales aren't annihilation to belittle at.

There is a rumored "Switch Pro" that could be released in 2022 that might impede sales for the original Switch. It could split the consumer base into buying either the rumored pro version or the base version. That said, the Switch Calorie-free is grouped in with the original Switch sales for their earnings report so the pro version might very well be also.
